TNR Airport (Ivato Airport) – Cargo, Address, Transit

About This Airport

No airport matters more to Madagascar's export economy than Ivato, the country's principal international gateway some 16 kilometres northwest of Antananarivo. Alongside passenger traffic, it handles the bulk of the island's air cargo, dominated by perishable high-value exports. Vanilla — a major share of national export earnings — together with seasonal lychees and chilled seafood moves to global markets via Paris, Dubai and Addis Ababa. The cargo facility offers cold-storage capacity for temperature-sensitive consignments, expanded after the post-2021 modernisation that added apron space. Belly capacity comes from Air France, Turkish Airlines, Emirates and Ethiopian Airlines, whose networks link Ivato to the major cargo hubs. Inland, the Madarail line from Antananarivo to Toamasina reaches the country's main seaport, enabling combined air–sea routing. Malagasy customs and bonded storage on site handle export clearance. The rhythm of cargo here follows the vanilla and lychee harvest calendar as much as any flight schedule.
