Two aeronautical identities mark Hassan I: Morocco files it as GMML, Spain as GSAI — a quirk of Western Sahara's contested status. Run by Morocco's ONDA, EUN is the territory's largest airport and the gateway to the regional capital Laâyoune, handling 190,416 passengers between January and July 2026, almost eleven percent more than a year earlier. Royal Air Maroc and Binter Canarias link it to Casablanca, Agadir and Las Palmas, while military and medical flights round out the traffic. The airport keeps a dedicated customs and freight clearance area, so consignments can be processed here, though volume is modest and belly-carried. Larger freight consolidates through Casablanca (CMN), Morocco's main air-cargo gateway, with Agadir (AGA) the nearer alternative. The Bou Craa phosphate mine ships its ore by conveyor to the coast and onward by sea, not by air. For forwarders, EUN is a regional clearance point rather than a freighter hub.
