PIK Airport (Glasgow Prestwick Airport) – Cargo, Address, Transit

About This Airport

Air China Cargo and China Southern Airlines have both set up UK bases at Glasgow Prestwick (IATA: PIK, ICAO: EGPK), helping lift freight volumes fourfold in twelve months to more than 46,000 tonnes in the year to March 2026. The engine of that growth is the airport's e-commerce Terminal E, which has handled over 25 million parcels since May 2025 across more than 600 cargo flights, some 10,000 pallets and roughly 23,000 tonnes of imports. Prestwick now sees 15 weekly freighter services from mainland China plus three from Hong Kong, with cross-border trade through the airport projected at around GBP 250 million in 2026. The site runs its own 24-hour, customs-capable cargo terminal and has handled night freight for operators including DHL. It sits about 50 km south-west of Glasgow, with M77/A77 road access and its own station on the line into Glasgow Central, and has reported a seventh consecutive year of profit. Prestwick has also been a Ryanair passenger base since 1994 and hosts a substantial aircraft maintenance (MRO) operation. Shippers weighing Scottish alternatives usually look at Glasgow International (GLA) and Edinburgh (EDI), though both rely mainly on belly capacity.
