HMO Airport (General Ignacio Pesqueira García International Airport) – Cargo, Address, Transit

About This Airport

Swissport handles ground and cargo services at General Ignacio Pesqueira García (HMO, MMHO), the airport serving Hermosillo in the Mexican state of Sonora. Mexico's civil aviation authority AFAC recorded 18,858 tonnes of freight there in 2024, the strongest domestic cargo growth in the country that year, although volumes fell roughly 23% year on year between January and May 2026. Demand comes from Sonora's industry: Ford's Hermosillo stamping and assembly plant builds the Bronco Sport and Maverick for the North American market, and mining adds a second flow. Most freight travels as belly cargo in passenger aircraft, and regular freighter operations are not confirmed. Highway 15 reaches the Nogales border crossing into Arizona some 280 kilometres north, while the seaport of Guaymas lies about 130 kilometres to the southwest and has been used by Ford in a pilot vehicle-shipping scheme. For larger consignments or intercontinental lift, forwarders route via Guadalajara (GDL), Tijuana (TIJ) or Phoenix (PHX).
