FAB Airport (Farnborough Airport) – Cargo, Address, Transit

About This Airport

Business jets, not freighters: Farnborough Airport (FAB/EGLF) in Hampshire is Europe's best-known dedicated business aviation field, roughly 40 kilometres west of London Heathrow, and has been owned by the Australian investment group Macquarie since 2023. Planning conditions cap it at 50,000 aircraft movements a year, essentially all of them corporate and private flights. There are no cargo airlines, no freight terminal and no air cargo handling agents; goods reach Farnborough only as small consignments or urgent spares riding along on business aircraft. International arrivals are cleared by UK Border Force on site, but routine customs clearance of commercial merchandise does not take place here. An application to raise non-weekday movements from 8,900 to 13,500 a year, leaving the overall cap untouched, sits with Rushmoor Borough Council and has been repeatedly delayed, with no confirmed outcome. The site also hosts the Farnborough International Airshow every second year. For genuine air freight, shippers use London Heathrow (LHR) about 40 kilometres to the north-east, Gatwick (LGW), or Stansted (STN) and East Midlands (EMA) where a freighter is needed.
