DND Airport (Dundee Airport) – Cargo, Address, Transit

About This Airport

Dundee Airport (IATA: DND, ICAO: EGPN) is about to lose air services altogether: Loganair will end the state-supported public service obligation route to London Heathrow on 23 October 2026 and close its Dundee base, having flown the contract since 2014. The airport handled 33,068 passengers in 2025, down 8.3 percent year on year, and the closure also removes seasonal links to Kirkwall in Orkney and Sumburgh in Shetland. Loganair cites an unsustainable contract and competitive pressure from nearby Edinburgh; the Heathrow route had replaced the earlier London City service in 2023, and local frequent flyers have campaigned for that City link to return. Commercial air freight has never been part of the picture at this compact field on the Tay estuary — no cargo terminal, no handling agent, no permanent customs post, with shipments at most riding as belly cargo on regional aircraft. Air freight from eastern Scotland is handled at Edinburgh (EDI), about 90 km south-west, and Aberdeen (ABZ), with Glasgow Prestwick (PIK) the option for dedicated freighter capacity. The A90 trunk road and the Dundee-Edinburgh rail line make road feeder service the standard solution.
