DMK Airport (Don Mueang International Airport) – Cargo, Address, Transit

About This Airport

One of the world's oldest airports still in operation, Don Mueang (DMK) opened in 1914 and served as Bangkok's main gateway until Suvarnabhumi took over international duties in 2006. At its 2004 peak it handled close to 700,000 tonnes of cargo; today its freight role is far smaller and clearly secondary to BKK. The airport now runs a dedicated cargo terminal housing customs and freight-forwarding offices, geared mainly to express and e-commerce parcels plus belly cargo on the low-cost carriers that dominate here — AirAsia, Thai Lion Air and Nok Air. In early 2026 NX Logistics Thailand upgraded its on-site operation so import and export handling is completed entirely at the airport, with cargo landing overnight now reaching Bangkok-area recipients the following morning. Long-haul main-deck freighters are rare, as scheduled cargo airlines concentrate on Suvarnabhumi. By road, DMK sits close to central Bangkok via expressway and tollway, allowing short trucking legs between the two airports. In practice, shippers route time-critical courier and online-retail goods through DMK and conventional air freight through BKK. Its tight integration with cross-border e-commerce flows is the field's defining cargo feature today.
