Derby Airfield in Derbyshire is a grass strip used for general aviation, flight training and club flying, with no scheduled service, cargo handling or customs post. It plays no role in air freight — and hardly needs to, because East Midlands Airport (EMA), the United Kingdom's leading dedicated cargo airport with the overnight operations of DHL, UPS and Royal Mail, lies close by. Birmingham (BHX) serves as a further option for shippers in the East Midlands.
