BJX Airport (Del Bajío International Airport) – Cargo, Address, Transit

About This Airport

Del Bajío's cargo apron ties directly into Puerto Interior, an inland logistics park that links the airport to freight rail and the federal highway network around Silao, Guanajuato. That intermodal backbone serves one of Latin America's densest automotive clusters: General Motors in Silao, Honda in Celaya, plus Mazda and Toyota operations across the Bajío, all running just-in-time parts flows that fall back on air freight whenever a line is at risk. Del Bajío International (IATA: BJX, ICAO: MMLO), operated by Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacífico, handled 3,301,500 passengers in 2025, up 4.2 per cent and ninth-busiest in Mexico, which translates into substantial belly capacity for the corridor. Ground and cargo handling is provided by operators including Swissport, while bonded warehousing runs under Mexico's recinto fiscalizado customs regime. No regular full-freighter rotation is documented at BJX; volume moves mostly in passenger bellies towards the United States and Canada, or by road to larger cargo stations. Querétaro (QRO), with its developed freight infrastructure, plus Guadalajara (GDL) and Mexico City (MEX/NLU) serve as alternatives, all within a few hours by motorway.
