Cattle raising and dry savannah shape the area around Ankazoabo in south-west Madagascar, and its airfield (IATA: WAK, ICAO: FMSZ) is a small bush strip with no scheduled service, no cargo facilities and no customs post. It is not a viable transhipment point for air freight. Consignments for the region move via Toliara (TLE) some 180 kilometres to the south-west and, for international traffic, via Antananarivo Ivato (TNR), with final distribution by truck along the national roads.
