QUO Airport (Akwa Ibom International Airport) – Cargo, Address, Transit

About This Airport

27 November 2025 is the date that changed the profile of Victor Attah International Airport (QUO/DNAI) in Uyo: on that day Nigeria's federal government granted the state-owned facility full international status, with regular international services expected from the first quarter of 2026. Cargo capability has not caught up, however — the airport still has no dedicated freight terminal, and one appears only in the Akwa Ibom state budget for 2026, still at the planning stage. In practice this means air freight to and from Akwa Ibom travels as belly cargo on passenger aircraft, or by road to Lagos (LOS), Nigeria's principal cargo gateway. Shippers in south-eastern Nigeria most often work through Port Harcourt (PHC), about 100 km to the south-west, or Calabar (CBQ), roughly 90 km east, both reachable in a few hours on federal highways. Customs clearance for international consignments is normally handled at those airports rather than at Uyo, so forwarders should budget the trucking leg on top of flight time. Anyone quoting air cargo rates for this region should treat QUO as a passenger airport with growing potential rather than as an established freight station.
