The e-dec import deactivation refers to the planned end of electronic import customs declarations via the legacy e-dec Import system of the Swiss Federal Office for Customs and Border Security (BAZG). Anyone currently declaring imports through e-dec must switch to the new Passar goods-traffic system (Passar 2.0 Import) before the shutdown. According to the BAZG's current planning, the last import customs declaration in e-dec Import can be submitted on 30 September 2027; after that, all imports run exclusively through Passar. Passar's import roll-out happens in four expansion stages — the first two have been available to pilot operations since the second quarter of 2026 (domicile procedures and selected border crossings). The BAZG and the trade community have agreed on a parallel-operation phase for imports, during which e-dec Import and Passar Import run side by side; e-dec data is not migrated automatically. Freight forwarders, importers and customs agents should coordinate the switch early with their software provider and the BAZG and prepare their registration in the BAZG ePortal together with the required business-partner roles. Not to be confused with the already-completed export switch (e-dec Export → Passar 1.0 Export, since 1 January 2026) or with the replacement of e-dec Web by the Declar web application (by the end of Q3 2027). The roadmap dates cited are BAZG planning and may shift. Status: June 2026.
