Japan Airlines and the NX Group, which includes Nippon Express, are launching a new major cargo route between North America and Asia.
The first flight departs on October 3, 2026 from Los Angeles. From there, it continues via Narita near Tokyo to Taipei, then to Singapore, back to Narita, and returns to Los Angeles.
A Boeing 747F with approximately 100 tons maximum payload capacity will be deployed. The service will initially operate once per week.
The background is clear: demand for air freight capacity in Asia is growing for semiconductors, server technology, and other goods related to artificial intelligence and data centers.
Large and heavy cargo is particularly attractive for dedicated freighters because it does not fit in every passenger aircraft. The 747F can therefore also accommodate server racks and other oversized equipment.
For freight forwarders, the route is attractive because it directly connects several strong technology hubs. Additionally, Los Angeles can be utilized as a gateway for further US and Latin American traffic.
