About This Seaport
Trans-Pacific Petrochemical Indotama (TPPI) operates Indonesia's Tuban port (UN/LOCODE ID TBN) at Tanjung Awar-awar on Java's north coast, handling condensate, LPG and other petrochemical liquid bulk cargo. The terminal has a 400-metre jetty, a 1,450-metre breakwater, three fixed berths and a single-point mooring (SPM) buoy; berths 4 and 5 take vessels up to 187 metres long with a 10.6-metre draught (from 40,000 dwt), while the SPM can handle tankers up to 185,000 dwt. TPPI is also planning a roughly USD 3.36 billion olefin complex to produce HDPE, LDPE and polypropylene, which would further increase cargo volumes in the coming years. Tuban is not built for container or general cargo – shippers with such freight should look instead to Tanjung Perak (Surabaya) or Tanjung Emas (Semarang). Hinterland access runs along East Java's coastal road network, and the port's cargo flow is almost entirely tied to the adjacent petrochemical complex.
