About This Seaport
Turkey's fertiliser and dry-bulk industry leans heavily on Toros Gübre, the Ceyhan-area terminal run by Toros on the northern shore of the Gulf of İskenderun. This is a specialised bulk and general-cargo facility rather than a container port, moving fertiliser, coal, petroleum coke, clinker, grain and edible oils. Deep-water berths, a roughly 60,000-tonne flat grain silo, two 50,000-tonne bulk warehouses and an extensive tank farm give it a dry-bulk handling capacity of around 15 million tonnes a year. The terminal traces back to 1981, when it opened to serve the adjacent Toros fertiliser plant, before growing into one of the country's largest dry-bulk ports. Road and rail links carry cargo into the Çukurova plain and the industrial zones around Adana and Ceyhan. Containerised or liner break-bulk shippers, however, are better served by Mersin or İskenderun's LimakPort nearby.
