Alongside TPS, the semi-automated Teluk Lamong terminal has run to green-port standards since 2014. More than twenty berths take containers and reefers, breakbulk, project cargo and both dry and liquid bulk. The hinterland is East Java's dense industrial belt, reached mainly by road with limited rail, and the government is pushing Tanjung Perak as a transshipment location. Customs and import-export clear through Indonesia's Bea Cukai authority with its pre-arrival document checks. Shippers serving central or western Indonesia use Tanjung Priok near Jakarta instead.
