About This Seaport
Eight nautical miles east of Lamia, on the Malian Gulf in central Greece, Stylida is the commercial outlet for the Fthiotis region and lies roughly 200 km north-west of Athens. The ISPS-certified public port handles general and bulk cargo along its northern shore from three piers totalling 370 metres, with a maximum draft of about 5.8 metres at high water. Principal exports are olives and olive oil in tins and drums, cable reels and cotton, while imports centre on timber, machinery and paper. There is no fixed container handling: loading and discharge rely on ship's gear or mobile cranes hired through local agents. The port is administered by the Fthiotis Port Fund under the Stylida Port Authority. Road links follow the A1 (PATHE) motorway, with the Athens-Thessaloniki railway passing nearby. For containerised freight, Piraeus remains the main gateway, complemented by Thessaloniki.
