About This Seaport
At Sitia, passenger ferries — not container ships — set the rhythm: on the north-eastern tip of Crete, this is primarily a ferry harbour. Blue Star and others link it year-round with Piraeus and the islands of Kasos, Karpathos, Halki, Rhodes and Santorini, with traffic peaking in summer. The port also shelters fishing boats and yachts and takes smaller cargo and supply vessels, though its cargo quay is shallow at about 3.4 m.
