About This Seaport

Some 50 kilometres up the Rajang River from the South China Sea, Sarikei (MY SAR) runs a single 146-metre general-cargo and container berth for vessels up to 3,000 DWT. As one of the Rajang Port Authority's operating centres alongside Sibu and Sungai Merah, it moves roughly 25,000 tonnes a year. The cargo is mostly conventional goods for local consumption plus agricultural produce and timber products from the surrounding district. Larger container and export volumes are routed through Sibu, Bintulu or Kuching. For forwarders, Sarikei is a regional collection and distribution point rather than a liner call.
