About This Seaport
Petron Malaysia and Hengyuan Refining (HRC) give Port Dickson its character as an oil and tanker port on the Strait of Malacca, about 90 km south of Kuala Lumpur. The two refineries process imported crude — roughly 88,000 barrels per day at Petron and a licensed 156,000 barrels per day at HRC — into gasoline, diesel, jet fuel, LPG and petrochemical feedstocks. Crude arrives and refined products leave via offshore single-point moorings (SPMs) and refinery jetties rather than conventional break-bulk or container quays. Onward distribution runs mainly by road tanker, pipeline and coastal tanker to terminals across Peninsular Malaysia and Sabah. Scheduled container shipping is effectively absent. For containerised and general cargo in the region, Port Klang is the nearest high-capacity gateway, with Tanjung Pelepas a further option to the south.
