About This Seaport
Ramba is better known as a Pertamina EP onshore oil field in South Sumatra than as a working cargo port. Output from the Ramba field moves mainly by pipeline and road tanker to the Plaju refinery near Palembang, and the open roadstead here supports little more than local oil and supply traffic. For freight forwarders its commercial relevance is limited: container, breakbulk and customs clearance run through Boom Baru port at Palembang on the Musi River. Shipments bound for the South Sumatra interior are therefore best routed via Palembang as the nearest full-service seaport.
