About This Seaport
Almost 1,200 metres of quay, berths for container vessels up to 4,000 TEU and bulk carriers up to 70,000 dwt define the working capacity of Qui Nhon, the principal port of Vietnam's south-central coast in Binh Dinh province. In 2024 it moved close to 11.8 million tonnes overall, including roughly 174,600 TEU, alongside wood chips, agricultural bulk, breakbulk and project cargo. Its hinterland follows National Highway 19 into the Central Highlands (Gia Lai, Kon Tum) and captures transit flows from southern Laos and north-eastern Cambodia. There is no rail link, so first- and last-mile haulage runs by road, while customs clearance for imports and exports is well established on site. Shippers needing deep-sea container connections with direct mainline calls generally route via Cai Mep or Ho Chi Minh City to the south, or Da Nang to the north. For regional bulk and general cargo, however, Qui Nhon is a capable and well-used gateway.
