About This Seaport
Coffee, cloves and bananas from the highlands set the tone of trade at Manakara, on Madagascar's south-eastern coast. Built in 1936 together with the 163-kilometre railway down from Fianarantsoa, the port is the line's seaward terminus and lies on the Pangalanes Canal.
