Designed around four berths and a landlord operating model with roughly 14 m depth alongside, the greenfield deep-water port at Manginapudi near Machilipatnam is taking shape on the Bay of Bengal. Construction began in April 2023 and was about 48% complete by late 2025, with first-phase operations targeted for late 2026 and an initial capacity near 35 million tonnes a year. The terminals are planned to handle coal, cement, fertilisers, pharmaceuticals and containers, supported by a proposed Machilipatnam–Repalle rail link and an MSME industrial park at Gilakaladindi. Until commissioning, the site cannot yet take commercial cargo. Forwarders should continue to route shipments via Krishnapatnam, Kakinada, Gangavaram or Visakhapatnam.
