TMS Airport (São Tomé International Airport) – Cargo, Address, Transit

About This Airport

Perishables, spare parts and small consolidated shipments make up most of what moves through São Tomé International Airport (TMS/FPST), the only international gateway of São Tomé and Príncipe and an airport served by belly capacity rather than freighters. No dedicated cargo terminal or scheduled all-cargo operation is documented for TMS. Scheduled lift comes from TAP Air Portugal out of Lisbon, plus regional operators Afrijet and ASKY. Capacity tightens sharply in the November-to-April peak, and four to six weeks of lead time is a realistic planning assumption. Local forwarding and handling resources are thin, so most shippers book through agents in Lisbon, Libreville or Lomé who control the through-movement to TMS. The airport sits about five kilometres from São Tomé town, close to the Ana Chaves seaport and the customs offices. Anything heavy, bulky or containerised is usually better routed by sea via Ana Chaves, typically with transhipment at Lomé or Libreville. Realistic air alternatives are Libreville (LBV) and Luanda (LAD), with Lisbon (LIS) acting as the European consolidation point.
