Some 60 km south of Mosul, along the Tigris, Qayyarah West Airport (RQW) sits well away from any commercial cargo lane. Long known to the military as Q-West, the airfield serves defence purposes and handles no civil freight. Goods bound for northern Iraq move through Erbil International (EBL) and its dnata cargo terminal, or via the Mosul airport reopened in 2025, depending on destination. Road haulage follows the Tigris corridor toward Mosul and Baghdad.
