Once the Medellín cartel's notorious cocaine transshipment base under Carlos Lehder from 1978 to 1982, Normans Cay (NMC) today could hardly be more different: an exclusive Exuma resort served by discreet private and charter flights. The runway that once moved contraband now brings in well-heeled visitors. No commercial freight facilities or customs bond exist, so cargo_capable is honestly false, with supplies arriving by boat. Time-critical air freight is handled through Lynden Pindling International in Nassau (NAS). A sunken smuggler's aircraft still rests in the shallows offshore, a relic of the island's other life.
