Around eleven daily departures make Nepalgunj (KEP, ICAO VNNG) the main airfield of Nepal's far west, in the lowlands near the Indian border at Rupaidiha. Buddha Air, Yeti Airlines and Nepal Airlines relay passengers and domestic cargo onward to remote strips such as Jumla and Simikot in the Karnali highlands, which are hard to reach by any other means. Its border position favours combined air-and-road movements for regional goods. International airfreight, though, is handled not here but at Tribhuvan (KTM) in Kathmandu.
