Mount Pleasant wears two hats at once: a working Royal Air Force station and the Falkland Islands' only international airport. Where most remote territories lean on a single carrier, MPN balances a military airbridge — AirTanker A330 Voyagers running twice weekly from RAF Brize Norton via Ascension Island — against a single weekly LATAM A320 from Santiago and Punta Arenas. Air freight rides in the holds of these services rather than through a dedicated cargo terminal, so volumes are inherently small. The contrast with surface transport is stark: bulk supplies for the islands arrive by sea through Stanley and the FIPASS floating port. Forwarders should reserve MPN for urgent, light or high-value consignments and route everything heavier by ship.
