Set in Angola's far northwest near the Democratic Republic of Congo, SSY airport serves M'banza-Congo, capital of Zaire Province and the historic seat of the Kingdom of Kongo. The airport reopened in 2017 after a multi-year reconstruction and is served by TAAG Angola on domestic routes to Luanda. It has no dedicated freight facility, so air cargo travels only as belly load on passenger flights, with full cargo handling concentrated at Luanda (Quatro de Fevereiro / Agostinho Neto, LAD/NBJ). For forwarders, SSY is best treated as a regional feeder rather than a freight point in its own right.
