EastGRIP Airport is not an airport in the ordinary sense but the snow runway of an ice-core research camp on the Greenland ice sheet, reached by ski-equipped aircraft. Operations are seasonal and tied to the research programme of the day; there is no terminal, no cargo handling, no commercial fuelling and no customs post, and everything arriving is project logistics rather than freight. Air cargo for Greenland runs through Kangerlussuaq (SFJ), the island's established transhipment point, and Nuuk (GOH).
