The IATA code DHX and ICAO code WARD belong to Dhoho International Airport, the gateway named after the ancient Kediri kingdom in East Java. Opened to scheduled flights on 5 April 2024, it holds the distinction of being Indonesia's first fully privately financed airport, built by cigarette manufacturer Gudang Garam with an investment near Rp 10 trillion and now operated by PT Angkasa Pura I. Located about 120 km south-west of Surabaya, it also serves the Blitar and Nganjuk regencies. Current traffic is domestic, with Citilink and Super Air Jet flying to Jakarta and Balikpapan. Although the runway and apron were designed to accommodate international and freight aircraft, no meaningful air-cargo throughput has yet developed. Forwarders handling shipments from the Kediri area route them through Surabaya Juanda (SUB), the nearest established cargo terminal. Designated a National Strategic Project, Dhoho is built to grow toward 1.5 million passengers a year.
