RMO Airport (Chişinău International Airport) – Cargo, Address, Transit

About This Airport

6,080,431 passengers passed through in 2025 — extraordinary for a country of 2.5 million, and a 46.8 per cent jump on 2024 — as Chișinău's Eugen Doga International Airport (IATA: RMO, formerly KIV; ICAO: LUKK) absorbed traffic displaced by the war in neighbouring Ukraine. It is Moldova's only active international airport, 13 km southeast of the capital, served by FlyOne, HiSky, Wizz Air and Ryanair to destinations across Europe. Freight volumes are far more modest: roughly 246 tonnes in August and 298 tonnes in December 2025, so a few thousand tonnes a year, handled in the airport's own cargo facility with cold-chain storage for temperature-sensitive and pharmaceutical (GDP) goods and dangerous-goods capability. Almost all of it moves as belly cargo in passenger aircraft; no regular freighter operation is documented. Customs clearance on site makes RMO a practical alternative for the cut-off southwest of Ukraine, while Bucharest Henri Coandă (OTP), about 450 km away by road, remains the nearest large cargo gateway and Iași (IAS) the closest but smaller option. For SMEs, importers and online retailers, RMO is Moldova's central air-cargo access point, and a major terminal expansion has been announced.
