Coded AEU/OIBA, the airstrip on Abu Musa serves one of the most strategically sensitive islands in the Strait of Hormuz, a territory administered by Iran and claimed by the UAE. Iran Air was the sole operator in early 2026, with roughly 13 monthly departures on the short domestic hop to Bandar Abbas. There is no commercial cargo terminal here, and supplies reach the island mainly by sea; air shipments are limited to small belly loads on passenger aircraft. Freight forwarders working the region rely on the port and airport of Bandar Abbas (BND), and on Tehran's Imam Khomeini International (IKA) for intercontinental shipments. Customs clearance, dangerous-goods acceptance and temperature-controlled handling are available only at those mainland facilities. With frequencies this thin, no carrier offers firm cargo capacity out of AEU.
