Gliders, microlights and club trainers circling the Bay of Somme are the whole story at Abbeville-Buigny Baie de Somme Airfield (ICAO: LFOI), a general aviation field near Buigny-Saint-Maclou in Hauts-de-France with no IATA code and no commercial cargo role. Its three 1,600 by 50 m concrete runways date from 1941, when German occupation forces built them; today they serve flying clubs rather than freighters. There is no cargo terminal, no scheduled service and no customs office on site — refuelling is limited to 100LL and UL91 avgas. Air freight from the Somme and Picardy is normally routed through Lille-Lesquin (IATA: LIL), about 120 km to the north-east, with intercontinental volumes moving via Paris-Charles-de-Gaulle (CDG), France's leading cargo airport. For sea-air combinations, the ports of Dunkirk and Le Havre are both within roughly two hours by truck. Shippers should treat LFOI as a leisure airfield rather than a logistics option.
