Blue Dart Aviation Limited is the airline arm of the Indian express group Blue Dart and was India's first domestic all-cargo carrier. The company was incorporated in May 1994 and began operations on 17 June 1996 with two Boeing 737-200 freighters. After several changes in ownership, the listed Blue Dart Express Limited has held all shares since 2016; the parent company itself is around 75 per cent owned by DHL Group. The registered office and operating base is Chennai airport. Operating model: Blue Dart Aviation flies a nightly express network on behalf of Blue Dart Express and additionally sells capacity in the airport-to-airport business, through interline agreements with international carriers and in domestic and international charter work. Ground handling, engineering up to D-check level and bonded warehouses at all online stations are run in house, complemented by the company's own training institute for dangerous goods and aviation security. Fleet: as at 30 June 2026 the fleet comprises six Boeing 757-200 freighters and two Boeing 737-800 freighters, eight aircraft in total. According to the operator, the Boeing 757 carries up to 32 tonnes with 237 cubic metres of hold volume, the Boeing 737-800 up to 22 tonnes with 188 cubic metres. Network: the airline serves Chennai (MAA), Bengaluru (BLR), Mumbai (BOM), Delhi (DEL), Kolkata (CCU), Hyderabad (HYD) and Ahmedabad (AMD). For forwarders: the carrier uses IATA code BZ, ICAO code BDA and AWB prefix 620. It accepts general cargo, electronics, high-value shipments, e-commerce and emergency consignments as well as dangerous goods of all classes except lithium batteries, infectious substances and radioactive material. Blue Dart Aviation does not run its own track-and-trace; shipments are traced through the parent company's portal at bluedart.com.
