As of July 2026. Since 12 February 2026, imports from Taiwan into the United States are subject to an "all-in" ceiling of 15%, combining the most-favoured-nation (MFN) duty and the reciprocal tariff. Earlier, on "Liberation Day" (2 April 2025), President Trump had imposed a 32% reciprocal rate on Taiwan—higher than Japan (24%) or South Korea (25%)—which was cut to the 10% baseline for 90 days from 9 April 2025 and later set at 20%. The signed reciprocal-trade agreement exempts 1,811 industrial products (average rate about 12.32%); generic pharmaceuticals, aircraft components and unavailable natural resources are at 0%. Section 232 duties on Taiwanese auto parts, timber and wood products are capped at 15%. For semiconductors (cf. semiconductor tariffs, Section 232), USD 250 billion in direct investment plus USD 250 billion in credit guarantees were pledged; firms building U.S. capacity may import 2.5 times that capacity duty-free during construction. Taiwan is dismantling 99% of its tariff barriers. Not to be confused with the general reciprocal tariffs or the sector-specific Section 232 tariffs, which are here modified on a country-specific basis.
