Definition & Explanation
Until now, a customs broker wanting to verify that a consignee held a valid end-use undertaking simply looked the number up in the public D-123 database. D-123 is the former Swiss register of approved end-use undertakings: each undertaking carried its own number, quoted in the import declaration whenever an end-use-dependent duty relief was claimed, and one company could hold several numbers for different goods and purposes. The Swiss customs authority BAZG is shutting the database down on 1 November 2026, and existing undertakings lapse on the same date. They are replaced by a single approved end-use undertaking per business partner, identified through that partner's GP-ID. Declarations still quoting D-123 numbers after that date risk rejection.
