Wallis und Futuna (ISO-Code: WF) liegt im südwestlichen Pazifik zwischen Fidschi und Samoa und besteht aus den Inselgruppen Wallis sowie Futuna und Alofi. Politisch ist das Gebiet eine französische Übersee-Körperschaft mit besonderem Autonomiestatus und enger administrativer Anbindung an Frankreich. Das Klima ist tropisch mit ganzjährig hohen Temperaturen, hoher Luftfeuchtigkeit und einer ausgeprägten Regenzeit. Wirtschaftlich ist Wallis und Futuna klein strukturiert und stark durch öffentliche Verwaltung, Subsistenzwirtschaft und finanzielle Transfers aus Frankreich geprägt. Im Aussenhandel spielt das Gebiet eine untergeordnete Rolle und weist eine sehr hohe Importabhängigkeit bei Nahrungsmitteln, Treibstoffen, Konsumgütern und Baumaterialien auf. Die logistische Infrastruktur ist begrenzt und konzentriert sich auf den Hafen von Mata-Utu sowie auf Luftverbindungen zu regionalen Drehkreuzen im Pazifikraum. Eine eigenständige Transitfunktion besteht kaum, da das Gebiet abseits der internationalen Handelsrouten liegt. Die Landeswährung ist der CFP-Franc (XPF), der fest an den Euro gekoppelt ist.
