Resumen
The Gambia (ISO code GM) lies in West Africa and stretches along the Gambia River, surrounded by Senegal with a short Atlantic coastline. It is a presidential republic with a tropical climate marked by distinct rainy and dry seasons. The economy is driven by agriculture (notably groundnuts and cashew), fisheries, tourism and trade. Foreign trade matters: exports are mostly agricultural products, while the country depends heavily on imports of fuel, food and manufactured goods. The Port of Banjul and Banjul International Airport secure the transit and logistics function for the region and the supply of the interior. The currency is the dalasi (GMD). As an ECOWAS member, The Gambia is integrated into the West African economic area.
