Tesla is preparing the European market launch of its electric truck Semi. The European version was showcased at the IAA Transportation in Hanover. On its European product pages, the manufacturer lists deliveries starting from 2027. However, no binding delivery date for individual markets is specified.
Tesla states an estimated range of up to 550 kilometers. The calculation is based, among other factors, on a total weight of 40 tonnes, 80 kilometers per hour, 20 degrees Celsius, and flat terrain. These conditions are part of the specification. A journey over Alpine passes or winter operation cannot be simply derived from these figures.
For fleet managers, the vehicle is therefore a candidate for further evaluation. However, a short demonstration drive does not replace an actual tour with typical cargo. Those planning to use the Semi should also have the vehicle mass, payload capacity, charging connection, and workshop support confirmed for the intended application.
It is best to calculate a real working week: Which routes can be completed without intermediate charging, where will the vehicle stand long enough, and what happens in case of a delayed return? Only together with a reliable quotation and suitable power supply infrastructure can a meaningful comparison with the current truck be made. Until then, the delivery schedule remains a manufacturer announcement.
