CMA CGM is taking the next major step away from being a pure shipping line.
The French group is acquiring FedEx Supply Chain for an enterprise value of 1.4 billion USD. The business will be integrated into the subsidiary CEVA Logistics.
FedEx Supply Chain operates warehouses, handles orders, returns, and other logistics services for major customers. Approximately 10,000 employees will transfer to CEVA with the business.
For CEVA, this represents a massive leap. Contract logistics in North America will nearly triple through this acquisition. After the takeover, CEVA is expected to operate around 150 warehouses in the region. In total, the company will have more than 240 locations in North America and approximately 20,000 employees.
With this move, CMA CGM continues to build a comprehensive logistics offering: ocean freight, air freight, ground transportation, warehousing, and delivery from a single source.
FedEx, meanwhile, is refocusing more strongly on its core business of parcel and express services.
The acquisition is agreed upon but not yet fully closed. Completion is expected in the course of 2026.
