Operated by the Sinai Manganese Company, Abu Zenima (also Ras Abu Zanimah, EG AZA) is a dedicated works port on the eastern shore of the Gulf of Suez, about 65 nautical miles south of Suez. Its two berths — a screwpile pier and a concrete pier with a shore crane, served by a belt conveyor for loading — handle roughly 470,000 tonnes a year, split into around 350,000 tonnes of exports and 120,000 tonnes of imports. Traffic is firmly geared to dry-bulk and industrial cargo tied to manganese processing; container or liner services are not established here. The bay offers good depths of locally 18 m and more and sheltered anchorage, but commercial use stays confined to the company's operations. The hinterland is reached via the Sinai coastal road, with no third-party rail link. For containerised or mixed cargo, Adabiya/Suez or the deep-water port of Sokhna are the practical alternatives.
