About This Seaport
Operated by Mobil Producing Nigeria with ExxonMobil as field operator (40 percent, alongside NNPC's 60 percent), the Qua Iboe Terminal (NG QIB) exports Nigeria's flagship crude grade from near the mouth of the Qua Iboe River on the Gulf of Guinea. The facility gathers light sweet crude of roughly 36° API and 0.13 percent sulphur from offshore fields 30 to 65 km out, fed ashore through a subsea pipeline network. Loading takes place at an open roadstead via buoy moorings directly onto tankers rather than at conventional quays, with export volumes around 200,000 barrels per day. No containers, breakbulk or RoRo are handled here; this is purely a crude-oil export terminal. Forwarders moving boxes or general cargo for south-eastern Nigeria should route via Onne or Calabar, while Bonny is the nearest alternative for crude liftings.
