Around 700,000 TEU a year across the ICTSI-run Tecon Suape terminal place Porto de Suape, in Pernambuco, as the leading container port of northeastern Brazil and fifth nationally. The deep-water complex at Ipojuca and Cabo de Santo Agostinho is also an industrial port, with quays up to 15.5 metres deep handling containers, general and breakbulk cargo, vehicles, dry and liquid bulk, fuels, chemicals and petrochemicals. Liquid bulk is served by five fuel terminals offering roughly 700,000 cubic metres of tank storage. Hinterland reach into Pernambuco and the sertão runs by road, rail and inland routes. A large dry dock adds ship-repair capacity. Since June 2026, APM Terminals Suape — Latin America's first fully electrified terminal — has been delivered and is entering operations with an initial capacity of around 400,000 TEU, ending Tecon Suape's monopoly and expanding the complex's total capacity by more than 50 per cent. For forwarders, Suape is the regional gateway for container and energy cargo, with Pecém to the north as a complement. Reefer, dangerous-goods and project cargo are part of routine business.
