Once a busy lumber and manufacturing harbour in the late 1800s, Petoskey has reinvented itself as a recreational waterfront on Lake Michigan's Little Traverse Bay. Today its breakwater basin holds a 144-slip municipal marina and operates as a Harbor of Refuge for pleasure craft rather than commercial ships.
