About This Seaport
Serving the forestry and farming country of the Namdalen region, Namsos sits at the mouth of the Namsen River in central Norway's Trøndelag county. Founded in 1845, the port works mainly for the timber trade, with the Moelven Van Severen sawmill as its main operator. Exports centre on sawn timber, wood products, cement goods and castings, while imports include coal, fertiliser and animal feed. About 820 vessels call each year, mostly smaller general-cargo and bulk ships, with virtually no scheduled container service. Hinterland access is by the national road network.
