Open only from roughly May/June to September/October, Mezen is a small timber port in Russia's far northwest, about 22 nautical miles inland from where the Mezen River meets its bay in the White Sea. Shallow water caps vessels at around 120 m length and about 4.2 m draught, set monthly by the port authority, with sawn and round timber the main cargo.
