About This Seaport
Split into a West, Old and East harbour, Lemvig on the southern shore of the western Limfjord is a compact commercial and fishing port in north-west Denmark. The West harbour houses fish processing and service firms, while the East harbour handles freight and storage. Typical imports are timber, coal, coke, fertilisers and stone; outbound cargoes include agricultural products, fish and bog ore, moved as bulk and breakbulk rather than containers. With around 40 vessel calls a year and limits of roughly 130 m length and 4.0 m draught, Lemvig serves small coasters and reaches the North Sea via the Limfjord and the Thyborøn channel. Inland, it relies on the road network of north-west Jutland. For container services Aarhus is the nearest major port, while Thyborøn and Hanstholm cover fishing and Aalborg handles larger bulk flows.
