About This Seaport
The seafood industry defines Kjøllefjord, one of Finnmark's largest fishing villages, set on the Nordkinn peninsula on Norway's Barents Sea coast. King-crab fishing, whitefish and salmon aquaculture dominate, with a branch of Aker Seafoods and Laksefjord Seafood AS processing catch locally, so the port's freight is essentially temperature-controlled seafood. With a cargo-pier depth of about 4.9 metres and a very small natural harbour, it handles no containers or large vessels, though bunker fuel is available. Kjøllefjord is a scheduled call on Norway's coastal express (Hurtigruten and Havila), a combined passenger-and-cargo service that carries freight along the coast. There is no container terminal and no large-scale customs operation on site. For containerised or international liner cargo, the nearest more capable ports are Hammerfest and Tromsø.
